MAY DAY 1

These shots were taken at Ely on May Day, 2006, when The Choirboys were taking part in the Cathedral’s May Day concert.

They performed Panis Angelicus, The Lord Is My Shepherd and the world premiere of John Rutter's Dona Nobis Pacem - an uplifting piece, written especially for The Choirboys. The Latin text, which means, ‘grant us peace’ is intermingled with the composer’s own English words and the piece comes to the conclusion ‘We can change the world’. (Patrick and CJ are, of course, also members of the Ely Cathedral Choir which participated throughout the evening.)

The shots of the boys singing were taken during afternoon rehearsals (as it is not permitted to take photos during performances). These are followed by some shots of the boys enjoying their free time between the rehearsal and the evening concert.

Special thanks to those at Ely Cathedral and The King's School, Ely, who allowed us to photograph the boys at work and at play.

For more photos from the day see May Day 2.
